Fall 2014, thanks to the efforts of Julie Schweitzer at the Southern Indiana Art Council, Susan had the chance to take her Personal Flotation Device Interactive Photo Installation on the road. She set up her photo booth at the Southern Indiana Art Council, Jeff Steamboat Days Festival, and Clarksville Riverfest, all in conjunction with the Steamboat Days events in Jeffersonville, Clarksville and New Albany in mid-October, 2014.
Hundreds of community members participated in this project by choosing one of her hand-made Personal Flotation Devices to wear and then share with all of us via the eye of the camera their answers to the question "What Keeps Me Afloat?"
Weather conditions were not particularly favorable and at one point ferocious winds knocked over her camera and broke the door to the battery compartment. Paul, her husband, had to help her rope every piece of equipment, lights, tripods, and clothing stands, to the top of the tent so that they would not be blown away. In spite of these obstacles she was able to capture many images and is currently in the process of editing them and integrating them into a video.
